What do you like best about Chargebee?

Feels like i can provide an enterprise-grade billing experience to my clients even though i am a small business. The level of customisation achievable is excellent and i always know that once my subscriptions are set up correctly, bills and emails will always go out correctly, and they always deliver (which is important in todays anti-spam email filter world) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chargebee?

The level of customisation achievable is excellent however some times in can be overly complex for my needs and i get myself tied up in knots, needing a call with support to set non-standard items up for me. Support staff are hit and miss.

What do you like best about Chargebee?

Chargebee’s dunning is what I like best of all. It has allowed me to set up automatic customized email reminders when our customers’ card payments fail, with systematic retries. The configurable email templates and dunning settings has meant that I have been able to fine-tune the dunning process and consequently save considerable time chasing up customers when their card payments decline for whatever reason.

Apart from the dunning feature, I have found Chargebee to be pretty intuitive to use, with good documentation and some helpful support. I recently received clear and helpful advice from their Support team in regards to the payment failure messages returned by the payment gateway that we use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chargebee?

Chargebee provides a TEST site in addition to a LIVE site, where it’s possible to test various different scenarios, and push test configurations to the live environment. That’s great but it’d be helpful if Chargebee provided more “test credit cards” where you could simulate different payment failure scenarios like expired cards, suspected fraud, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chargebee solving and how is that benefiting you?

The software company that I work for has been using Chargebee since 2017 and its been a lifesaver with managing the monthly subscription billing for our Cloud/SaaS product.

What do you like best about Chargebee?

As a software developer integrating Chargebee for the Netherlands, I appreciate how well it handles our monthly and yearly subscriptions, especially with IDEAL support. The webhook documentation is generally well-structured, making it easier to integrate with our system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chargebee?

The documentation for the Consulting API seems outdated—I’ve never seen the pattern they use before, making integration less intuitive. Additionally, the lack of an installment solution at the product level is a major limitation. Currently, installments are only available at the invoice level, requiring a workaround to update the payment type after the invoice is generated. This adds unnecessary complexity and makes managing installment-based subscriptions more difficult than it should be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chargebee solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about Chargebee?

I really appreciate how easy Chargebee makes managing subscriptions and billing. The platform is intuitive and saves a lot of time by automating processes that would otherwise be a hassle. I also love their customer support – they’re always quick to respond and really helpful whenever I run into any issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chargebee?

One thing I’d love to see improved is the reporting features. They’re functional, but sometimes they’re not as customizable as I’d like, and it can take a bit more work to get the data I need. I’ve also noticed a few hiccups with integrations, especially when syncing with some of my third-party tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chargebee solving and how is that benefiting you?

Chargebee has been a lifesaver when it comes to streamlining our invoicing process. As a marketing assistant managing revenue share invoicing for clients, Chargebee automates a lot of the manual work, making it easier to track payments and ensure accuracy. It saves time by generating and sending invoices automatically, reducing human error. Plus, it handles recurring billing seamlessly, so we don’t have to worry about managing subscriptions manually. What do you like best about Chargebee?

Chargebee is our system of record for subscription management. It's a great central resource to ensure that we know what a customer has purchased, paid and other relevant financial and payment matters over time. I like the ability to set up automated messages for a variety of customer purchase and payment scenarios. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chargebee?

I wish Chargebee could improve:

- ease of use in building reports

- notifications: we've had issues with users not receiving their notifications and have had to manually pull these to be sent via other systems

- entitlements being stuck in system: I would love to be able to use an API to get entitlements from Chargebee into CRM and other systems in use by our team Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Chargebee?

I am a first-time user of Chargebee and found the customer support responsive and helpful. The interface itself is straightforward and enables someone with little to no headless eCommerce experience to navigate the admin panel with no issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chargebee?

We are are tech startup that has been lied to since starting our account. After paying $400/month for over 2 years i finally found out about the started plan with no upfront cost and as a prerevenue company this would have been immensely better. after requesting to switch we were delayed and invoiced at the paid plan pricing and after objecting to the invoices our account was diabablized and we could not access the account. One of our ealy adopter clients messaged asking not to renew her annual plan after being diagnosed with cancer and i cannot access the account to cancel her subscription! This is terrible. It took nearly two months to resolve my billing support request, including long periods of no response despite multiple follow-ups from my side. That said, I appreciate that the issue was eventually resolved Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Chargebee?

The in-app features like dunning and one-time invoicing have been really useful for us to easily collect one-time charges from customers. The entity management feature which allows us to control customer creation and handle invoices effortlessly. Chargebee’s latest beta feature, e-invoicing, has significantly reduced our manual effort required for filing invoices. Now, we can simply enable it, and Chargebee takes care of the rest.

We use Chargebee for our daily signup, plan management, and recurring management. When talking about API integration with our system, it works well, and they have the best API documentation.

Also, I want to add that Chargebee has a great UI across all sections, like the checkout portals. We use the in-app checkout portal on our end to collect data. Whenever we need to implement any feature, their API documentation is extremely helpful. Chargebee's implementation process is straightforward and user-friendly. The platform provides clear documentation, and the setup guides make it easy to integrate with our existing systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chargebee?

Sometimes, support doesn’t have the answers we’re looking for, especially when it comes to customizing certain features to fit our needs. For example, with the 'Invoice status – Not Paid,' we wanted the option for one-time invoices to auto-void if payment fails, either through a workflow or a setting. However, this was not possible, and support denied the request. While I understand this feature can be updated via API, it would be much better to have a workflow rule to handle this automatically. As I stated previously dunning to reduce subscription cancellation and smart collection and one-time invoicing have been really useful for us to easily collect one-time charges from customers. Chargebee’s latest beta feature, e-invoicing, has significantly reduced the manual effort required for filing invoices.
