I love the diversity of features, plus everything is so easy to use Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish it had invoicing built in as this would make it a complete system for us! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Active Campaign has deep integrations with other tools make online business life much more straightforward - then the segmentation and automation options allow for personalised marketing to customers. The form integration is a super useful tool to ensure those that are the hottest leads are highlighted easily. I find the contact hub very easy to use and is much simpler than other tools I've looked at. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
ActiveCampaign is best suited to established entrepreneurs, as it gives a lot of high end tools that are not needed for the business beginner - and the price associated is often way out of budget for beginners. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The automations are very easy to set up and modify. There are so many more things you can automate than obvious at first glance. The videos they give you access to as a new customer are excellent - I used AC in a previous business so I wanted a refresher and it was a useful thing to do as I picked up a few new tips and tricks.
Update since my last review - the new email designer is way better than the old one giving much more flexibility and now they've added the ability to better store brand colours it all takes less time to get a campaign out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can't cope with a client having more than one email address, so if this is important to you - avoid! It's been on the request list for years now. I'm UK and the live chat support doesn't open until the afternoon which can be a real pain when you're trying to solve something in a hurry, email support is rubbish. They don't advertise their opening hours clearly so if you're not in the US time zones (AC are in Chicago) it's worth thinking about whether you're going to be able to access support when you need it. They have some great features, good automation logic and good SMS automation, but most of the best features have been gated behind different paywalls now. The pricing has become overly complex over the years with different add-ons. It was simple and really good for 9 years, but the pricing isn't designed to grow with your business anymore. I was on a 25k contacts yearly plan with ActiveCampaign for $3,456.00 that included unlimited email sends. The following year they charged my card for $4,012.20 and reduced the email sends from unlimited to 300k per month.
When I emailed them to ask for a refund of the difference and to be put back on the plan I signed up for with unlimited sends, they said it's not possible. They said they migrated me to a new plan which was discounted by 55%, even though it was more expensive and had less features.
The company essentially increases pricing on it's customers, removes features, and charges their card without first getting their explicit permission. I asked for a refund of my yearly fee for the first time in 9 years, but they said they can't do full refunds. The way the company handled their pricing increase forced me to switch away from them. I tried to resolve it with their customer service, but they kept trying to negotiate with me on price even when they knew I hadn't given my permission for the plan migration.
The icing on the cake for me was when I said I got no notification email sent about the migration to new plans. And they told me they sent me 1 email about it, but couldn't track if I'd received it or not. I sent them a screenshot of all emails I got from their team, proving I didn't receive it. But because they sent 1 email, they assumed I gave permission to migrate my plan. From my perspective what they did was fraudulent. You can't increase pricing on a plan someone signs up on, take away key features, and not get their explicit permission. If you make a major pricing and feature change, you need to give customers a choice if they want to stay or leave before you charge their card. ActiveCampaign don't do this. I was encouraged to try out active campaigns for my health and wellness business by a marketing expert. The previous system we were using no longer served our business and although it was a leap financially for us given our cashflow situation at the time it was a great investment and we have found the system has saved us lots of time and money in serving us with marketing and automation so we can focus on doing more of what we love in supporting other busy professionals with their health and well-being.
As a people person, who is often wearing many hats as a business owner I struggle with tech but active campaigns have always been very supportive and as a team we've been able to navigate the techy side of things. We try to see it as a learning journey and I know we still have much to learn about all the fantastic benefits of active campaigns. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We could probably spend more closer time with active campaigns learning more about how the system could support our business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that I can create automations. For now, it is economical, but when my list grows, it won't be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have the lowest tier, but that does not have any landing pages. Mailer lite free version even has free landing pages.
Also, support is not great. If I start a chat, it goes on forever...waiting, and if I leave the room and the agent responds, then that's all lost. I have spent hours doing that.
I have not been able to figure out how to run test campaigns
Also, now my emails are landing in promotions folder in gmail, which didn't happen earlier.
I had issues with a form and it wasn't until I got to chat with a real person, that I found the solution that was not as straightforward as it should've been Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
ActiveCampaign is one of those tools that just gets it when it comes to email. It's incredibly user-friendly but still powerful enough for complex automations and segmentation. I love how easy it is to build out journeys based on actual customer behavior—it makes the emails feel more personal and less like a blast. The reporting is also super clear, which helps me quickly see what’s working and what needs adjusting. You can tag and segment in so many ways, which is a game-changer if you’re trying to send targeted, relevant content. I’ve found the automation builder to be one of the best out there—visual, intuitive, and flexible. It also integrates with a ton of other tools, which means you can build a pretty seamless marketing ecosystem. Whether you’re nurturing leads, onboarding new users, or just sending out newsletters, it handles it all. Plus, deliverability has been solid—I rarely have issues getting into inboxes. It’s also just fast to work in, which matters when your day is packed. Honestly, it’s one of the few platforms that actually makes email feel fun. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not much. It's a great tool that does exactly what it says it will. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The team and support at active campaign are second to none. the pricing is reasonable. The deliverability and the method of creating automations is brilliant. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We’ve just started using ActiveCampaign and were shocked to realise it lacks a basic feature every proper CRM has. I'm writing this so that anyone switching can not make the same mistake as us. what they dont allow is a lookup feild or a custom lookup field to link one contact to another.
This is STOCK STANDARD / OEM in platforms like Zoho CRM, HubSpot, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, and even Freshsales.
Use cases like having an authorised representative, a next of kin, a carer, a spouse, a broker managing clients, referred clients, referral source... or linking anyone to any one, which i cant think of a business that won't use this functionality which is why the others have it innately built in.
You can't create a field that points to another contact, which makes ActiveCampaign feel like an email tool pretending to have CRM features.
This one missing feature is now seriously limiting how we can use the platform and we’re reconsidering whether it’s viable for us long-term.
If you need or use this in your current setup BEWARE Active Campaign can't do it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
ActiveCampaign is hands down the best email marketing and automation tool I've ever used! The automation features are incredibly powerful, allowing me to create personalized customer journeys with ease. The segmentation is top-notch, ensuring that every message reaches the right audience at the right time. Plus, the interface is intuitive, and the reporting provides deep insights into my campaigns. If you're serious about email marketing and automation, ActiveCampaign is a game-changer! 🔥 Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While ActiveCampaign is an incredible tool, there are a few things that could be improved. The pricing can get quite high as your list grows, making it less budget-friendly for small businesses. Also, the learning curve can be steep—while the automation features are powerful, they can feel overwhelming at first. Lastly, the email builder, while functional, could be a bit more intuitive and flexible. Despite these minor drawbacks, ActiveCampaign remains one of the best automation platforms out there! 🚀 Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It has an easy-to-use interface that guides you through the steps in a way that requires little-to-no training. It includes all the tools needed to run successful digital/email marketing campaigns and is reasonably priced for all the functionality it includes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Recent updates have shown that AC is trying to improve their customer service (i.e. AI chatbots and integrated community support). When we first implemented the software, we had a designated representative that was instrumental in helping fix our issues efficiently; however, that went away and getting issues resolved can take longer than desired via the ticketing system. We have also run into small kinks in the system (i.e. exclusion lists/unsubscribes) that no resolution was found. Lastly, our unique CRM situation continues to present issues with integration, although ActiveCampaign is not entirely at fault and their tech team spent many hours working with us to help solve our problems. I find ActiveCampaign to be very helpful for organizing and automating all of my workflows. I love having all of my contacts, notes, workflows, automations, in one place. I love the ease of seeing into my analytics and being able to make adjustments to my funnels in real time! Their onboarding is great making it easy to implement and if I have a question, customer support is always a click away. It's a game changer for my business! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I'd say the only downfall is price - ActiveCampaign is expensive which means that most of my clients aren't able to afford it in the beginning. I wish it was affordable to the point that I could refer all of my clients to sign up for an account because I know how useful and impactful it will be for their businesses.
