The automations are very easy to set up and modify. There are so many more things you can automate than obvious at first glance. The videos they give you access to as a new customer are excellent - I used AC in a previous business so I wanted a refresher and it was a useful thing to do as I picked up a few new tips and tricks.
Update since my last review - the new email designer is way better than the old one giving much more flexibility and now they've added the ability to better store brand colours it all takes less time to get a campaign out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can't cope with a client having more than one email address, so if this is important to you - avoid! It's been on the request list for years now. I'm UK and the live chat support doesn't open until the afternoon which can be a real pain when you're trying to solve something in a hurry, email support is rubbish. They don't advertise their opening hours clearly so if you're not in the US time zones (AC are in Chicago) it's worth thinking about whether you're going to be able to access support when you need it. I was encouraged to try out active campaigns for my health and wellness business by a marketing expert. The previous system we were using no longer served our business and although it was a leap financially for us given our cashflow situation at the time it was a great investment and we have found the system has saved us lots of time and money in serving us with marketing and automation so we can focus on doing more of what we love in supporting other busy professionals with their health and well-being.
As a people person, who is often wearing many hats as a business owner I struggle with tech but active campaigns have always been very supportive and as a team we've been able to navigate the techy side of things. We try to see it as a learning journey and I know we still have much to learn about all the fantastic benefits of active campaigns. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We could probably spend more closer time with active campaigns learning more about how the system could support our business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
ActiveCampaign is one of those tools that just gets it when it comes to email. It's incredibly user-friendly but still powerful enough for complex automations and segmentation. I love how easy it is to build out journeys based on actual customer behavior—it makes the emails feel more personal and less like a blast. The reporting is also super clear, which helps me quickly see what’s working and what needs adjusting. You can tag and segment in so many ways, which is a game-changer if you’re trying to send targeted, relevant content. I’ve found the automation builder to be one of the best out there—visual, intuitive, and flexible. It also integrates with a ton of other tools, which means you can build a pretty seamless marketing ecosystem. Whether you’re nurturing leads, onboarding new users, or just sending out newsletters, it handles it all. Plus, deliverability has been solid—I rarely have issues getting into inboxes. It’s also just fast to work in, which matters when your day is packed. Honestly, it’s one of the few platforms that actually makes email feel fun. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not much. It's a great tool that does exactly what it says it will. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The team and support at active campaign are second to none. the pricing is reasonable. The deliverability and the method of creating automations is brilliant. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We’ve just started using ActiveCampaign and were shocked to realise it lacks a basic feature every proper CRM has. I'm writing this so that anyone switching can not make the same mistake as us. what they dont allow is a lookup feild or a custom lookup field to link one contact to another.
This is STOCK STANDARD / OEM in platforms like Zoho CRM, HubSpot, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, and even Freshsales.
Use cases like having an authorised representative, a next of kin, a carer, a spouse, a broker managing clients, referred clients, referral source... or linking anyone to any one, which i cant think of a business that won't use this functionality which is why the others have it innately built in.
You can't create a field that points to another contact, which makes ActiveCampaign feel like an email tool pretending to have CRM features.
This one missing feature is now seriously limiting how we can use the platform and we’re reconsidering whether it’s viable for us long-term.
If you need or use this in your current setup BEWARE Active Campaign can't do it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
ActiveCampaign is hands down the best email marketing and automation tool I've ever used! The automation features are incredibly powerful, allowing me to create personalized customer journeys with ease. The segmentation is top-notch, ensuring that every message reaches the right audience at the right time. Plus, the interface is intuitive, and the reporting provides deep insights into my campaigns. If you're serious about email marketing and automation, ActiveCampaign is a game-changer! 🔥 Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While ActiveCampaign is an incredible tool, there are a few things that could be improved. The pricing can get quite high as your list grows, making it less budget-friendly for small businesses. Also, the learning curve can be steep—while the automation features are powerful, they can feel overwhelming at first. Lastly, the email builder, while functional, could be a bit more intuitive and flexible. Despite these minor drawbacks, ActiveCampaign remains one of the best automation platforms out there! 🚀 Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It has an easy-to-use interface that guides you through the steps in a way that requires little-to-no training. It includes all the tools needed to run successful digital/email marketing campaigns and is reasonably priced for all the functionality it includes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Recent updates have shown that AC is trying to improve their customer service (i.e. AI chatbots and integrated community support). When we first implemented the software, we had a designated representative that was instrumental in helping fix our issues efficiently; however, that went away and getting issues resolved can take longer than desired via the ticketing system. We have also run into small kinks in the system (i.e. exclusion lists/unsubscribes) that no resolution was found. Lastly, our unique CRM situation continues to present issues with integration, although ActiveCampaign is not entirely at fault and their tech team spent many hours working with us to help solve our problems. I find ActiveCampaign to be very helpful for organizing and automating all of my workflows. I love having all of my contacts, notes, workflows, automations, in one place. I love the ease of seeing into my analytics and being able to make adjustments to my funnels in real time! Their onboarding is great making it easy to implement and if I have a question, customer support is always a click away. It's a game changer for my business! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I'd say the only downfall is price - ActiveCampaign is expensive which means that most of my clients aren't able to afford it in the beginning. I wish it was affordable to the point that I could refer all of my clients to sign up for an account because I know how useful and impactful it will be for their businesses. Active Campaign is a solid platform to use for handling various email campaigns. I like how it allows you to manage multiple lists of customers at once, track which users opened for clicked through on your emails, and the email builder is easy to figure out. Customer support has always been responsive and helpful as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think that one of the biggest issues that I'm coming up across when using active campaign is that I have no idea when my emails are landing in the recipient's spam folder, and I wish this platform could give me some advice or flag emails that are likely landing there. (To be clear, landing in spam is a result of the old lists that I'm using, not the platform.)
For example, it would be useful if Active Campaign could have a flag that pops up on a campaign that gets particularly poor results and tell me to check the deliverability of that email, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We've been using ActiveCampaign for a while now, and overall, it's a solid platform. The automation features are incredibly powerful, and we love how flexible the triggers are — it makes creating dynamic campaigns a breeze. Their contact management is also spot on. That said, there’s some room for improvement. Editing emails can be a bit clunky, and customer service hasn't been the best. We've been chasing updates on email deliverability for a while now, which is a big deal for a business like ours. Fingers crossed they sort it soon because reliable email delivery is crucial. ActiveCampaign offers not only list-based but also tag-based email marketing, which is essential for interest-based email marketing. Through my work as a web designer, I have worked with almost all providers, but ActiveCampaign has completely convinced me. The integration is really easy and works seamlessly with payment providers and membership areas. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The German translation is very poor. For many of my customers, this is a problem. The design of the forms is very plain and really needs an update. Customer support often sends links to instructions for very specific questions, which have already been read and have not helped. Especially when you are very technically knowledgeable, you receive answers that are simply copy/paste and do not help further. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
