What do you like best about Toast?

I like the modern and sleep UI of Toast, and the fact that it's super easy to use the tablets, handheld devices, and also has a lot of integrations. I love how consistent their branding is, and I love how easy it is to find everything and sync all the menus whenever I was editing it. Implementing and onboarding the restaurants with Toast POS was fairly simple and hiccups were expected but they were easily smoothed out. Our servers constantly relied on the handhelds to get everything done because it definitely makes their lives easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Toast?

Customer support was terrible when I last used it in 2023. They typically outsource their customer support staff who work remotely and kind of had no idea what I talked about when I called them. Their restaurant success managers are also kind of useless as we had one and she wasn't very helpful. The network team was awesome though because they were super smart and knew what I was talking about right away whenever we had issues with connections. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's solving the automation of tasks, easy syncing and connectivity across all our restaurant items, tracks our sales, digitizes payments, and makes everything super easy and convenient for back of house and front of house. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Toast?

We use Toast for all of our restaurant needs. This includes POS, Payroll, Marketing and Invoices/Inventory. The way the system integrates everything is so nice and we have so much information at our fingertips. Crucial for running in a low margin industry.

We also love their hardware. It seems Toast have really thought hard about how the POS and KDS systems work. We just installed a new KDS screen this week and it was actiually a joy to mount and get up and running. We had it ready to go in less than 30 minutes. It was just so easy.

Also, the online video libarary and support site is very good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Toast?

Overseas customer service for ToastTab can be frustrating. It seems that Payroll and XTRAChef customer service is still mostly skilled US based people and good to work with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?

Onboarding people is a breeze with Toast Payroll. this saves time and money.

The POS system is great to work with and gives me a huge amount of data. This allows us to keep track of our P&L and margins.

The system works seamlessly offline. We can always accept payments.

XTRAChef makes inventory management and recipe costing easy. It is a pain to set up initially, but once all the info is there you get so much good information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Toast?

The technology is pretty solid and built for restaurants. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Toast?

Big problem with after launch sales calls - install went mostly good except for the menu development - that person totally dropped the ball and only threw it together last minute before our menu consulting meeting. I could have done it myself so afterwards i went and tweaked it myself - but she was no help.

About a week after our "go live" date Henry Slate started calling me about trying to grow my business. Looking at LInked In it looks like he's in the growth sales team. By reading some reddit sites it looks like they try to sell you subscriptions (in addition to what you are quoted when you sign on) with various services that you really don't need. They offer trial basis, and cancelling/refunds are a nightmare according to these reddit posts I saw.

My issue is how shady they are in reaching the business to get you to subscribe after launching. I took a short vacation after launching as i was tied up with getting ready for the toast launch date for about a month. I told the sales guy Henry i'm on vacation leave me an email. I reached out to my onboarding rep and asked that they don't call my cell any more.

2 days later while i was still on vacation they called me again on my cell, i didn't answer the call fast enough so they data-mined my employee list and called a part time employee on her personal cell (since it was in her employee profile on toast) and she had to tell them it wasn't her decision to make (that employee was at her day job elsewhere).

My onboarding rep is pretending he doesn't know what goes on for sales after launch (which is a lie) and it's all one big game to increase revenue on the backs of small restaurants. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Toast?

Having a feature for a successful foodservice operation on one platform. The ease, withthe POS. I had interest because of a government entity's interest in integrating the application to their system. However because TOAST is not FEDRAMP certified. The application was not picke up,. What do you like best about Toast?

Easy to Update and Learn, feature rich, and has great tools to help restaurants thrive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Toast?

It's very robust, so it takes some time and dedication to really maximize the POS, but the same is true for most good Systems. Managing modifiers can be tedious at times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?

Streamlined alot of front of house needs and back of house processes making it easier to create great guest experiences - guest management, order management, ticket times, order taking. Sales tracking. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Toast?

Toast tab provides a user interface that is familiar and efficient, not to mention in line with the technology of today. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Toast?

The only downside that I can see is, there is a lack of some specific reporting around server, initiatives, or individual server performance as a pertains to menu. What I mean by that is like server contest, or server incentives, where we would like to look at specific performance over a period of time that is longer than a week. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?

Toast tab provides a modern and forward way of providing a POS system that function seamlessly into every day restaurant operations, this results increased efficiency and productivity. The system is extremely stable and also results in less frustration and downtime when dealing with a point of sale. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Toast?

The complete manual for all the various aspects of Toast POS. Information is at your fingertips as needed for every detail of the system. Customer support is always friendly and efficient to get you the answers you need. Like any softeware there are so many things available to our business. If we devoted one person to review and set up our system there is no doubt it use would double and triple. The integration was simple and supported. As each area is used there is a discovery every day of new reports, areas to change to assist in accounting, and ways to communicate to the managers and owners of the business. Looking forward to more and more implementation of all mentioned features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Toast?

The search engine is time consuming to use unless you have spent time familiarizing yourself with the many areas of toastab.com. When searching for a specific way to change an area in the POS it provides links to where you find the information but the outlines and links are not direct to your key word search. A sample would be, the search engine Google highlights the "words" in your search to make for a fast view for the direction needed. This would be a more effective way to use the in depth manual available. A personal dislike is the sentence structure of the directions provided. The collumn titles you are looking for are mentioned in the sentence AFTER the subject such as "navigate to Printers and Cash Drawers by going to Payments on the left-hand navigational bar" instead of "navigate to PAYMENTS on the left hand navigational bar and SELECT Printers and Cash Drawers" I find this navigation backwards to follow. "You have arrived at your destination two blocks after the stop sign. After the stop sign continue two blocks and you will arrive at your destination. StopSign>Two Blocks> Destination Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?

Toasttab offers a more effective and efficient way to contain all management information and reporting in one place. It connects several programs as a CRM would do making management reporting as well as employee access simple to maintain. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Toast?

Can't say i like anything. its is a frustrating system overall. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Toast?

Toast Tab should make things easier, but everything is 5 times harder than it should be, and it takes multiple outreaches to get the most simple things done, and they are rarely correct even then. My address is incorrect, and I've reached out multiple times about it, and it's still incorrect in various parts of their system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?

Theortetically it is helping to solve payroll and payment collection at that time of sale. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
