There were many options for both free and paid themes; the learning curve wasn't horrible and fairly easy for beginners to use. There's a chance to really go big with your business/website using Squarespace! The themes are easy to manipulate and rearrange to best fit your business needs. I also like how much storage is included - I haven't had any issues with the speed of the site loading even though I have many high-quality images on my page. It's great for photographers! Plus, the customer service is great! Kirstyn was helping me a lot recently and it was painless and in the end everything worked out great! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's hard to get straight-forward help. I emailed a few times about finding a list of people who subscribed prior to me linking a MailChimp account and never got the help I needed. I was only referred to blog posts about it, which I had already read and didn't find helpful. It's hard to get good analytics; actually almost impossible to get useful ones unless you use Google Analytics. Lastly, the cost is a bit premium. There are probably cheaper options out there but since I started my website using this app it's just way easier to maintain it. I don't have the resources/time to change to a cheaper version - although a cheaper version like WordPress also has limits tot he pages/set-up which also prevented me from switching. I've been with Squarespace since 2013 and what I keep loving about it is the user interface which is clear, minimal, and simple to use even for nonweb developers. I've created numerous websites with them and keep staying because they are always on top of the market trends and technology developments. They offer designer-made templates to start building your website with integrated e-commerce, marketing and so much more. Squarespace customer support is one of the best I have ever talked with - always happy to help and quick to solve any issues that might come up. I use it daily and I love the additional integrations with other providers like Mailchimp or SEOspace to name just a few. I brought my domains from another provider and the steps to connect them with my websites were as easy as 1,2,3 but you can also get a domain straight from Squarespace. Implementation of my digital assets to my website is easy and smooth and I love referring to Squarespace resources page that includes in-depth articles and how-to videos. The support is just always there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There was just one thing that at first frustrated me and that was the process of switching from Squarespace 7.0 to 7.1. But I took it as a challenge and an opportunity to re-design my existing website so no harm feelings. And the abilities I have now with 7.1 are non-comparable. Squarespace is easy to use for someone that is not technical at all. The templates are awesome. It's easy to figure out things you get stuck on with all of the resources provided. It's so intuitive. I have two websites for different parts of my business one e-commerce and one 'normal' website' and I love how easy they both are to buld and maintain. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I don't like is that a) I can't use my company font on the website, which means my branding doesn't match the rest of my branded marketing materials, b) Klarna is not available to add on UK Squarespace websites, and c) the DHL widget is not available to add to Squarespace to help with my shipping. I appreciate how user-friendly Squarespace is for someone who is not adept to writing code, and only somewhat understands how SEO targeting works. This has been a helpful shift to grow my business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The thing I find least helpful so far is that while there are quite a few features that are very user-friendly for all stages of savviness, some of it feels superfluous. I wish some areas were condensed for ease of use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
SquareSpace is an easy to build website with so many formatting options that anyone can make a professional website. I currently run two robust websites with SquareSpace—one for my association's conference that I update each year and another website for an international awareness day. I love their analytics, easy to use and capture the information I need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While Squarespace is very flexible in its layout and branding options, there are a few small tweaks I wish I could make, like having different colors for buttons or highlighted text on pages. It's a small inconveience, as the flexibility of the website far outweighs that request. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Scalability while the website are highly scalable, making it easy for users to grow their online presence as their business or organisation expends Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
At times rarely releases updates and new features, leaving users without access to the latest and greatest tools and technologies Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Squarespace has an intuitive design that instantly gladdens a new user. Their templates cover a wide scope and therefore is most applicable for anyone with a need for a quick landing page. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The lack of customization for chosen templates. There's an option to input script inside the head tags but this isn't enough for a developer with advanced needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Its very easy to use especially if you haven't built a website before Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I am learning how to integrate an external newsletter and emailing list and its not as seemless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a nonprofit, cost is important, and Squarespace is reasonably priced, even for higher level packages. It is easy to learn how to make edits, there are great templates to start with, and it can look sleek with desktop and mobile. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Robust webpages can take a while to load compared to other website designers. Some design integration requires knowledge of CSS coding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ease of setting everything up. The web creator is quite handy as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's buggy, and customer support is not helpful. In their terms of service, they also have no warranties or guarantees for their services. What in practice means that whenever their error severely affects your company you can't do anything about it :)
While migrating domains from google domains they have an error that blocks users from using their domains as well as google workspaces(emails). The error has been ongoing for a few weeks already, it only appears when you have to renew the domain for the next year. For a few weeks, some people cannot access their domain and emails. What is worse the user cannot even transfer the domain to other hosting platforms due to their error. When I contacted customer support they were pretending as it was a new issue. Only after 3rd conversation, I found out about the scale of the problem. They could have warned me about the problem cause they had known about it for the last few weeks(saw people complaining on it for 6-7 weeks already) so I could prepare, migrate my stuff, contact my clients etc. Instead, they thought that it is a great idea to hide it. Now my company is left with no website and no email and it looks like we are close which seriously affects our credibility and I am their hostage as due to error I cannot transfer my domain somewhere else. Can't even demand any money as compensation due to their terms of service.
I decided to create another page on the website as everything is already set up in webpage creator and I needed to do it quickly. I already regret it. When I created a Google Workspace for the new domain I was unable to add any users. I was getting a "cannot process payment" error multiple times even though my money was charged. So far the problem has not been resolved.
If would recommend not using Squarespace services. Try to use a different provider if possible. Shame that I was made to migrate my stuff here when they bought Google domains. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
They used to have a pretty good basic web site builder but they screwed it up and companies like Shopify just caught up and blew past them Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Really poor code I mean things rarely work especially when they aquire another company and merge the accounts. This happened to me first when they acquired Weebly and more recently when they acquired Google domains It is an absolute dumpster fire and there is no automated way to fix the issues in their customer service is woefully inadequate so it takes many months to get anything resolved This is unacceptable when you're trying to run a business and you need to access your domain!
