I like the ability to track both organic and paid search terms for various sites. The flexibility in plans for various budgets also helps. Creation of specific projects to track and comparisions of different domains helps us gauge industry trends and where we should placing more emphasis in our ad words campaigns or general content. I enjoy tracking google positions for our url as well as studying traffic volume. The overview reports are easy to read and helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would like access to historical data as part of the regular monthly fee, not have to upgrade. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I am a social media and content marketing manager, and I love being able to search for keywords and see what their search volume is. I also love to add the keywords that we focus our blog content on into the position tracking campaign to see if we have improved or declined in rank or even started ranking for new keywords. It makes it fairly simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think the main thing is that it is an added cost for our team. We like using it from time to time, but it is not a tool that we use often enough to pay a lot for. It also isn't the most easy to understand when you are new to SEO. I had to teach myself a lot and it took months for me to figure it out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Semrush is my go-to for all things SEO. It’s packed with tools for keyword research, competitive analysis, backlink audits, and site health checks. The Keyword Magic Tool is a game-changer for finding high-volume, low-competition keywords. I also love the Position Tracking feature for keeping an eye on keyword performance and competitors. Plus, the Content Marketing Toolkit makes it easy to optimize articles and improve SEO. It’s fast, user-friendly, and always getting better! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Semrush is packed with features, but it can be a bit tricky to figure out if you’re just starting out. There’s a lot to take in, and it might feel overwhelming at first. Plus, the pricing can be a bit much for freelancers or small businesses, especially if you only need a couple of tools. Some features, like traffic analytics or historical data, are only available in the more expensive plans, which can be pretty frustrating for mid-tier users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Semrush has a ton of very useful features for building an efficient and comprehensive SEO process. You can start with very minimal information and come up with a thorough todo list that will start bringing in organic traffic. The estimates of keyword difficulty vs. volume to help you prioritize are especially useful. I also like the automated alerting to rank changes.
It was super easy to implement it into my workflow. I'd check in on my progress and revise my strategy every week or so, with a quick review that doesn't take long at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If anything, Semrush perhaps has TOO many features, which can make it a bit overwhelming at first. If I want to build a list of good keyword targets, should I use the keyword overview, organic research, keyword gap, keyword magic tool, or keyword strategy builder? They all do different things that are all helpful, so it's hard to know what should be the priority. Having one singular tool that incorporates all these things into one simple recommendation might be good, while ofc retaining access to the more granular reporting. There are tutorials and guides that would help me here, but I feel like I'm too busy to invest time in something like that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Semrush is one of the most complete SEO tools I have ever used. The software is perfect for achieving growth and gathering insights and information not only on our own website, but also our competitors. It gives us physical evidence of how well our website is doing but also where we can improve. I think it's great value for money in terms of what is included in the base subscription. I had an initial welcome call but I haven't really heard from anyone since in terms of ongoing support which I was expecting.
The only other thing is that I didn't find some of the explanations of things to be quite as straightforward and simple for someone who is new to SEO. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Semrush is a comprehensive SEO tool that delivers great features. The keyword research functionality is particularly impressive, offering detailed metrics on search volume, keyword difficulty, and competitive analysis that helps identify high-potential opportunities quickly. The position tracking feature provides accurate, real-time updates on keyword rankings, allowing for agile strategy adjustments when needed.
I appreciate the depth of the competitive analysis tools, which give valuable insights into competitors' strategies, backlink profiles, and content performance. This competitive intelligence has been instrumental in refining our own approach and identifying gaps in the market. The content marketing toolkit, including the SEO Writing Assistant and Topic Research tools, has significantly improved our content creation workflow and helped ensure our content is well-optimized for search.
The user interface is intuitive despite the platform's complexity, with well-organized dashboards that make it easy to navigate between different tools and features. The visualization of data through graphs and charts helps quickly understand trends and performance metrics at a glance. The regular updates and new feature rollouts show Semrush's commitment to staying ahead of SEO trends and algorithm changes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While Semrush is undoubtedly powerful, there are several areas where it could improve. The pricing structure is quite steep, especially for small businesses or freelancers just starting out. The gap between the Pro and Guru plans is significant, and some essential features are only available on higher-tier plans, which can be frustrating.
The learning curve can be steep for beginners. Despite the relatively intuitive interface, the sheer number of features and data points can be overwhelming for those new to SEO. The onboarding process could benefit from more guided tutorials tailored to different user experience levels.
I've also found that some of the data, particularly in less competitive markets or for niche keywords, can be limited or less accurate than desired. This sometimes necessitates cross-referencing with other tools for validation. Additionally, while the tool offers various integration options, some connections with other marketing platforms could be more seamless and comprehensive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I use Semrush every single day for multiple different clients in a wide range of industry verticals. The thing(s) I love about Semrush are the ability to customize your account with as many or as little add-ons as your business needs. The wide array of tools that are at your disposal through Semrush help you achieve your SEO and content goals start-to-finish.
Semrush has, hands down, the easiest integration with the most applicable external sources (GA4, Search Console, etc.). Any client I work with, or new job I start, I always push Semrush as the platform to use for SEO and various digital marketing efforts - I don't even really put other platforms on the lists when submitting budget proposals either. Not a whole lot to be honest. I do think there should be a way to set up custom dashboards based on your clients' needs and KPI's though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Semrush’s SEO Tools are an absolute game-changer. The keyword research and competitive analysis features save me hours every week and provide actionable insights that directly improve my rankings. I especially love the site audit tool—it’s detailed, fast, and helps me stay on top of technical issues before they impact performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If I could add anything, I’d love to see more AI-driven content suggestions integrated directly into the content optimization tools. Also, a more customizable dashboard for agencies managing multiple clients would be a great upgrade.
Overall, Semrush continues to be my go-to SEO toolkit—powerful, reliable, and packed with value. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I like best about Semrush is its all-in-one approach to digital marketing. I can research keywords, analyze competitors, audit my website, track backlinks, and monitor brand visibility—all in one place. The interface is intuitive, and the tools are powerful yet easy to use. It saves me hours every week by consolidating what used to require several different platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While SEMrush is incredibly powerful, the sheer number of features can feel overwhelming at first. It takes time to fully understand and use all the tools effectively. Some features also feel a bit hidden or buried in the interface. Additionally, the pricing may be a bit steep for small teams or solo marketers, especially if you're not using all the advanced tools regularly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The thing I like best about Semrush is its data. I enjoy making sound SEO recommendations based on all of the data points. The keyword overview helps me to search for multiple keywords at a time. Semrush's Keyword Difficulty metric is valuable as it help me identify our keywords sweet spot.
I've also taken advantage of their SEO Writing Assistant which has helped me produce various optimized pages for clients. Some of these pages have ranked on the 1st page of Google SERPs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a product, there isn't much to dislike about Semrush but its pricing model can be expensive. Everything feels like an "add-on" with a hefty price tag. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Semrush has been a highly effective SEO tool for my business. First, I like that everything is thoughtfully organized and easy to find. This robust tool has a significant number of features for both beginners and experts. Initially, it can look intimidating because of all the features, but once you get into using it, the ease of use comes naturally. I use it daily and have become very accustomed to its interface. I also like the dashboard's visualization and reporting style.
The customer service is world-class! The Semrush agents communicate in easy-to-follow step-by-step steps and are very responsive to my inquiries.
I’m enjoying the Semrush tool for my SEO needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I dislike about Semrush is that I wish the Guru plan had a higher daily report allowance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
