What do you like best about Revit?

The best thing about Revit is the level of personalisation that can be achieved. It's also really quick to work with once you have everything setup with templates and all the families that you use frequently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Revit?

The same great flexibility is the main problem if you have people working with it without much experience. People with no much knowledge usually gets a bit lost and takes quite a bit of time to get some proficiency in the use of this powerful program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Revit:

It's a powerful program but due to this to work efficiently you need at least a person in the organisation with a deep and extensive knowledge about it. It's also necessary to offer training to those not use to it as it's not an intuitive program to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Revit solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's a great program for collaboration. We use it to work in complex projects where different parts of the project are shared between different of our offices or external consultants. The ability to work in the same model from geographically distant offices or to share links to the model with external consultants works perfectly.

We use an external program called Drofus to manage extensive data bases of information for the rooms of our projects and the integration between both programs it's also great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Product Description

Revit® building design software is specifically built for Building Information Modeling (BIM), empowering design and construction professionals to bring ideas from concept to construction with a coordinated and consistent model-based approach.

How do you position yourself against your competitors?

- Revit is a multidiscipline BIM platform:
In the BIM process, multiple team members can work on the same project at the same time in a centrally shared model. Revit has features for all disciplines involved in a building project, so everyone can use the same software, putting the project at the center and connecting participants in the building design and construction process. When architects, engineers, and construction professionals work on one unified platform, the risk of data translation errors can be reduced and the design process can be more predictable.

- Extend Revit collaboration with BIM 360

- Power Revit with cloud services

What do you like best about Revit?

Revit is a truly amazing program for modeling construction projects. For users, it is very easy to use, and the integration is done really well by transferring the old CAD standards of companies to the new BIM technologies. The learning curve of the program is highly progressive due to the need to use it every day, which facilitates its implementation in companies that are starting to use it. The number of options available in this tool is very good, allowing us to model most of the disciplines involved in building construction without any problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Revit?

What I like least about the program is that the appearance of mechanical elements such as ventilation ducts and plumbing channels cannot be modeled according to manufacturing standards regarding the length of the elements that are part of a mechanical network. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Revit solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest problem solved with the use of Revit is the coordination between the different project disciplines. This benefits me because thanks to 3D modeling and the ability to integrate all disciplines into a single model, I can reduce the work time dedicated to resolving conflicts on the construction site, which implies a considerable reduction in costs. What do you like best about Revit?

- Once you understand the interface and options menu, it’s easy to use.

- Consistency in the UI, even for such a massive software.

- You can literally export anything you create, with complete control over every single line, thickness, family, color, and property.

- Integrations, integrations, and more integrations—you can connect it to almost anything, its easy to implement!

- Cloud services are top-tier.

- Supports electrical, HVAC, mechanical, and architectural work seamlessly. Tons of featuers as well

- Allows you to create and edit families with ease.

- A huge library of websites offers ready-made families for use.

- A massive community of Revit add-ins enhances the software, adding new features or improving specific ones like thermal analysis, exporting options, layouts, and more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Revit?

- Be cautious when saving files and working across different Revit versions, as files cannot be saved in older formats.

- The interface can feel overwhelming at times, which may be a challenge for new users.

- Certain tools behave differently from the main tools, so it’s essential to keep that in mind.

- Performance tends to slow down with larger projects, which is understandable but still

- The rendering engine isn’t the best, but you can easily export to or use other engines.

- It can be expensive, especially if you rely on multiple Autodesk software programs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Revit solving and how is that benefiting you?

Literally working on projects while building them as you draw—it saves time and allows you to export to almost anything for any purpose. It’s flexible, reliable, and becomes easier to use over time. BIM, in general, is the art of doing everything simultaneously, from plans to sections, elevations, and finally, completing it all with a 3D model. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Revit is reasonably simple to learn and use, and has remained very consistent over the decade or so that I have used it. It is surprisingly versatile and has ben able to handle almost anything I've thrown at it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Revit?

I generally find that new features are slow to roll out, and tend to focus on major flashy integrations that attempt to expand the software, rather than the minor little tweaks and improvements which would actually improve daily processes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Revit?

It provides accurate digital representations of buildings and is easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Revit?

Inability to open/ save files in previous versions Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Revit solving and how is that benefiting you?

Creating accurate digital representations of buildings that include both graphical and non-graphical information about the building becomes essential for everyone working in the AEC sector. In addition to helping create accurate digital representations of buildings, Revit enables end users to add their own additional properties as needed. The main benefit of Revit is that it produces attributes based on actual building data and takes into consideration different elements in different ways. With real-time updates and shared data, all teams can collaborate on the same model using Revit's BIM platform. Additionally, Revit saves time because an architect doesn't have to draw elevations and sections independently as revit provides the same functionality while creating plans. With the use of Revit's energy analysis tools, designers can simulate energy consumption, optimize building performance, and evaluate how different design choices may affect sustainability. As a professional working in BIM, Revit helps me personally by saving my time and effort when developing accurate building models compared to creating merely plans. It also makes quality assurance of models easier because I only need to make changes in one view to update changes across numerous views. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Revit?

The most useful aspect of Revit is the ability to model in 3D, which means that any change you make to the model will be updated in each of the created views, plans, details, and quantity tables, which did not happen when you modeled or designed in 2D with other software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Revit?

For the Latin American region, what I like the least is the price that must be paid, as our currencies are worth less than the dollar, making software expensive for design and modeling companies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Revit solving and how is that benefiting you?

It basically solves everything, and if it doesn't, it is necessary to have knowledge of DYNAMO, which is a type of plugin for Revit that even allows you to program. It is a very powerful tool that helps when modeling and providing information about the different designs to the model and taking it to a 5D level, even with quantities and a construction schedule. What do you like best about Revit?

Revit is powerful and feature-rich, making it ideal for complex BIM (Building Information Modeling) projects. Its ease of use, once you’re familiar with it, allows users to create highly detailed architectural models with an impressive level of accuracy. The software's parametric modeling is a standout feature, enabling us to make quick adjustments across the entire model when a change is made. Revit also integrates smoothly with other Autodesk products, streamlining the workflow and easing implementation. We rely on its extensive library of components, which speeds up modeling and helps maintain consistency in our projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Revit?

While Revit’s capabilities are extensive, handling large models can lead to performance issues, especially on less powerful computers. The initial learning curve is steep, especially for new users unfamiliar with BIM software, and the setup for customization can take time. Although Revit provides solid customer support, complex integrations with other software can occasionally require additional assistance. It’s also a resource-intensive tool, meaning teams need fairly high-performance hardware for smooth functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Revit solving and how is that benefiting you?

Revit allows us to centralize all building data, creating a unified environment where team members can collaborate seamlessly. This reduces errors and miscommunication across disciplines, from architecture to engineering. By automating updates across the model, it saves time and minimizes the chance of inconsistencies. Revit’s collaborative features improve efficiency and allow us to work with greater precision, benefiting both our workflow and project outcomes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
