The best part of PerformYard is the people behind the scenes. Everyone we have talked to at PerformYard after purchasing the product has been extremely professional, helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly! I am profoundly disappointed with PerformYard, particularly in their renewal process, which I found to be misleading and deceitful. The sales team was not transparent about the renewal terms, and as a result, I unknowingly ended up locked into a three-year contract. When I reached out to address this issue, I provided documentation clearly showing how the renewal was misleading, yet upper management refused to entertain any discussion about ending the term early. Their lack of flexibility and unwillingness to even acknowledge my concerns speaks volumes about their approach to customer service.
Beyond the renewal issue, the platform itself is not as user-friendly as advertised and is not well-suited for small businesses that simply want to conduct annual reviews and basic performance plans. The system is unnecessarily complex—something as straightforward as one-on-one counseling requires creating templates, assigning templates, and then starting templates instead of just having a simple option for direct documentation.
If you are a small business looking for a streamlined performance management tool, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. PerformYard’s aggressive renewal tactics, lack of transparency, and cumbersome user experience make it a poor choice. I think the only flaw that I've experienced is the goal setting workflow. When you assign a form employees still have access to the goals tab. I experienced a lot of employees going to the goals tab to enter the goals and not the workflow goals form. That creates duplicate work and goals that then need to be archived. It is wonderful if an employee follows the training and workflow, but there are some that just dive in and go straight for the goals tab. If you get this sorted the system will be flawless. I like how user-friendly PerformYard is! It’s a great tool for keeping all employee information, evaluations, 360 evaluations, goals, and more in one place. I wouldn’t say it’s a dislike, but PerformYard does require some time and training to fully understand how to use it effectively. However, the time invested is nothing compared to how much time it saves versus doing everything manually. One feature I’d love to see added is a built-in view document storage system where employee files can be uploaded and accessed directly within PerformYard, without relying on external platforms like Google Drive. I love that PerformYard is streamlining our performance management throughout our company. We have gone from spreadsheets and constant emails to a consistent process where everyone knows the expectations. The system is easy to use, extremely customizable and convenient. One of the downsides of PerformYard is that all users (employees) need to have an email to get a login for the system. We have a lot of blue collar manufacturing workers that don't even have an email address. We also don't have a lot of emplyoees that have work emails, so everyone has to use their personal email for this. It would be nice if they could have a login using a phone number or something else.
It would also be nice if reviews could automatically launch based on hire date instead of manually adding employees to a group and then launching the review each month. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

While the platform has many strengths, there are some areas for improvement. I wish organizations could customize dashboards even more to fit their specific needs and workflows. There could also be a more robust way to view and edit forms, making it easier to manage performance data effectively. Additionally, certain terms like 'Author' and other pre-set verbiage are not applicable to our organization, which can lead to confusion. It is user friendly. I can track my own growth and goals while providing a structured way to track and measure my development over time. We try to utilize it quarterly at minimum. Any time I accomplish something I can add it to my list, and it is transparent for my mentor as well when we have check-ins. It enables continuous feedback and encourages regular check-ins and real-time feedback rather than relying on annual reviews - this has been very beneficial for our mentoring program. Potential for Micromanagement – If not used correctly, it can feel like constant surveillance rather than a tool for growth.

The support from start to finish in set is great. It is really easy to use. The set up for our entire company was easy and the support that was given and that has continued is great. We love that we can schedule our reviews, set goals for employees, give feedback through out the year and store documents. We use this every day and are loving our experience.
