I drive gives you 2tb of storage for around $53 per year, or free 5gb. They also give you the option of sending a physical drive to do a hard back up, and send back in so they can upload your initial full back up at no additional cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The software is a little dated. The interface is complex for basic user to recover files if needed. The support is very lacking. The techs I have talked to were relatively rude, and I had to wait a whole day for a response. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I'm a former long-term Backblaze user who switched due to concerns about BBs future. I have found IDrive to be simple to set up and configure. To manage bandwidth use I opted to backup my main folders initially and then, once that was complete, I added more folders over a couple of days.
I like the daily schedule option and the fact that I can easily switch to hourly backups if I am being productive and creating lots of docs etc.
I also like the fact that the account includes the option to install the IDrive app on my phones to backup the photos and contacts etc and its all going to the same backup destination.
I have tried a couple of test restores and they work quickly and efficiently.
IDrive is installed as an app on my Windows 11 desktop - but I also like using the browser based options which are much more responsive than the Backblaze equivalent for restores etc.
Overall this is a feature-rich solution that seems very secure and is easy to set up and use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only issue that I didn't like was during the initial big backup. Other devices on my local network became sluggish to access the web or email. This was only during the first backup though. There has been no impact on responsiveness since that completed. I did try using the "throttling" control to leave some bandwidth available for the network, but that seemed to reduce the upload to 2Mbps no matter what throttling percentage I chose. A good solution for ongoing use is to add new backup folders in the late evening to backup overnight when no-one is using the web etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It was very easy to implement and remains easy to use. That says a lot considering I am not only tech "unsavvy" but also was reluctant to accept how many bad people are out here stealing personal information - even people within our own current or previous circles. I've lost everything from a surprise hard drive failure before and the peace of mind with iDrive, along with how usable it is and the automation of it, makes it worth far more than the competitive price. There isn't anything I dislike about the product, just my own lack of knowledge. Some of what I see as advanced features, and there are plenty, are just outside of my wheelhouse as a nearly senior mom who hasn't been in a career that relied much on computer technology. I look forward to using all that comes with my subscription as I move along the slight learning curve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I switched from backblaze to IDrive and so far I love the faster speed and customization for what specific folders I want backed up. In backblaze I had to select which folders I wanted to exclude (which were a lot), and with IDrive I am able to just select the folders I wanted. It seems much more user friendly and it’s more affordable for my usage needs - so yay! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I was hoping the speeds would be a little faster but they are faster than the system I previously used at least. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
After researching various backup services, I decided to sign up for IDrive, and I’ve been using it for a while to back up my computer, which is nearly 1 TB in size. The service and app was very easy to install and it quickly and efficiently created a mirror copy of my system, and now it performs incremental backups every night that take only a minute or two.
One of the standout features of IDrive is their exceptional tech support. I’ve contacted them a few times, and I was pleased to speak with a knowledgeable representative—something that’s unfortunately rare these days. Their 24/7 support truly sets them apart.
I highly recommend IDrive to anyone in need of a reliable cloud backup solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't find anything that I dislike but I would like if the Sharedrive they offer would need to be in Synch with a local drive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
IDrive has hit a special market in providing cloud storage for both individuals and companies needing large amounts of cloud storage. Their customer support was wonderful, and integration was very easy. I use IDrive all the time—it automatically backs up the changes I make with versioning of previous changes available, should I need to go back to a previous version of a document, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish the interface of the app and online platforms were a bit more up-to-date, clean, and simplistic (Like Nordlocker or iCloud). Making some design tweaks would greatly simplify the user's experience. Secondly, I wish a folder could be shared from file explorer by simply right-clicking on the specific folder and selecting a "share folder" button, which would then initiate a pop-up that would request the necessary details. I’ve been using iDrive for just a few weeks now. It's reliability is top-notch—my data, from important work documents, photos and other personal files are securely backed up without fail. I’ve yet to experience a hiccup, even when uploading very large files and the the pre-scheduled auto backups. The installation process was straightforward, and I was up and running in just a few minute. The interface is intuitive and user-friendly, making it easy to navigate, select files, and restore data whenever needed. Whether you’re tech-savvy or a beginner, iDrive’s simplicity and dependability make it a fantastic choice for worry-free backups. Highly recommend! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My only nit would be a reminder, which I can set myself, but it would be helpful if iDrive provides automatic reminders of upcoming backups so I know to have all computers on-line to insure they are backed up successfully. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is trustworthy. After my 3TB external hard drive crashed, I realized I needed something better. Something that could hold all my important information and family pictures. My son recommended this and I found it so easy to use. I was thrilled that I could back up multiple electronics. I now feel safe. That is because I drive works so easily. I am a disabled senior citizen. My son assured me that I would be comfortable with this. He was right !! I love that it integrated so well on my computer. It is so easy to use. I have not found any downside to using this terrific program. I have not had to contact customer support. I expect customer support to be as great as its' product Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I appreciate how IDrive offers a simple and intuitive interface that makes it easy to set up automated backups across multiple devices and platforms. The fact that they provide end-to-end encryption and a robust set of backup/restore features instills confidence that my data is protected. Additionally, the S3 compatibility of IDrive e2 Object Storage opens the door to seamless integrations with various tools and applications I already use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While IDrive generally offers strong performance, initial backups or very large data uploads can be somewhat slow depending on your internet connection. In addition, the user interface—though straightforward—could use a more modern design in some areas, especially in the advanced settings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
IDrive is an incredibly user-friendly online backup solution that offers an excellent amount of storage space for its annual pricing. It is a great choice for anyone looking to secure their data across multiple devices, because of its compatibility with various operating systems. I use it on my Windows desktop and laptop, as well as my Android and iOS mobile phones. The setup process is straightforward: simply install the app, log in, and you're ready to go. This ease of use, combined with its cross-platform support, makes IDrive a top choice for anyone seeking a hassle-free backup experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While IDrive excels in many areas, one notable drawback is the speed of the initial upload, particularly if you have a large amount of data to backup. This can be frustrating for users who need to transfer extensive files or folders, as it may take a significant amount of time to complete the first backup. However, once the initial upload is done, subsequent backups are generally faster and more efficient. Despite this limitation, IDrive remains a solid choice for those willing to wait for the initial setup to complete. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's a seamless synch with my Synology D224+, easy to configure, and is very reasonably priced. As with most folks, I have oodles of photos, but also run a consulting business, so plenty of files that I can now access wherever I am in the world, and always be guaranteed that it's the most recent version. I haven't had to use customer support yet, but based on reviews, that should be excellent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We set this up a week ago, and have had no issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
