Generally, everyone used or has used SPSS, so it is easy to communicate your analyses across lab groups, universities, etc. As such, it is relatively simple to find help/support online from other users on how to run different sorts of analyses online. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are many statistical analysis programs on the market these days. SPSS is still a paid program, not open-source like R, for example. It also is rather buggy--the GUI works just fine, but the Syntax (code for programming analyses) not so uncommonly will not work for no reason at all. Only retyping the problem section will fix this issue. If you prefer using code for analyses, SPSS is less intuitive and more difficult than other programs. The graphs and plots generated directly from SPSS are actually quite awful and need to be redone in another program before they can be used in any reasonable publication or presentation. SPSS offers a clean and structured interface that makes advanced statistical analysis accessible even to users with limited coding experience. I especially appreciate the wide range of built-in tests, its flexibility in handling complex datasets, and how easy it is to visualize outputs. The syntax feature is great for repeatability, and it integrates well with Excel and CSV workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
SPSS can feel outdated in terms of UI compared to modern tools, and the licensing structure is somewhat rigid and expensive for individual or smaller team use. Also, while it's great for structured analysis, it lacks some of the flexibility and extensibility of open-source alternatives like R or Python when it comes to custom modeling or data wrangling. As a person had never been technical, and more importantly a psychology major in both undergrad and grad school, I loved the interface, as it looked clean and appealing, allowed me to do my work effectively in research, generating outputs that helped me to put together my case studies in a great light. It was easy to setup, and I felt comfortable using it on a daily basis. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes the outputs were a little too intimidating. If I needed to generate other formulas I would have to get some training on it, but fortunately I needed to only know a few things for my research studies (power, significance, F and T ratios). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
its user friendly and I have used it for stats and regression, the output is really easy to interpret Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not great for big data, doesn't support advance algorithms Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easy to use: I am not an expect in statistics, but I found SPSS Statistics very easy to use. It's way less scary than trying to code everything on my own. There are a lot of tutorials and helpful menus too, which is very handy whenever there is some difficulty with any task.
Tons of features: SPSS Statistics has a lot of features. It can do simple things like averages, percentages to difficult analyses which I do not even understand (for e.g. multivariate regressions). A lot of features with the software help me in my day to day tasks and assignments.
Clear results: SPSS Statistics shows clear results which is something that I expect from a software like this. The tables and charts are simple and easy to understand, even for someone like me who's not an expert in statistics. It makes it convenient for me to explain my findings to teammates and other stakeholders. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not so modern: The UI of the software can be improved. The design seems a little out-dated. It looks a little bit old-fashioned when compared to other programs in the market.
Pricey: SPSS Statistics is little expensive. I had to use my college IIM Sambalpur's license because there was no other way that I could afford it on my own. Not ideal if you're on a tight budget like for a student.
Customer support: Fortunately, I didn't have to contact them much, but when I did once, it was little difficult to find a customer executive and a proper resolution. This aspect can be improved further in the time to come. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
i liked the user freindly GUI, pretty plain simple and straight. another main feature which i have liked is integration of python/sql into it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
i believe the graph and histograms can have little bit modern view. it seems straight out of microsoft excel. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It has more features than I thought. I like that it is specialized for statistics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
At first, I didn't understand much about how to use the tool, but with videos on YouTube, I was able to get the hang of it haha
I don't know if my problem is that it's not very intuitive Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would recommend IBM SPSS for researchers, data analysts who need to perform advanced statistical analysis and data visualization.
It provides range of statistical techniques such as inference and data visualization tools such graphs, charts etc.,
Integration with other IBM products is easy and effortless
IBM support is excellent for users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The pricing is overwhelming for beginners and small organizations
Would love more optimized SPSS for big data analytics like other big data engines such as Apache spark or Power BI Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I liked the User Interface and the ease of use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The data transformation is not always effective and sometimes interferes with the visuals. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It helps to research relevant market analysis. The upsides of using it are predictive analysis, data management, a user-friendly interface, and data visualization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The least helpful thing is its high licensing fees and add-ons, which are more on the higher side. The downsides are integration limitations and limited customization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
