479 HackerRank Developer Skills Platform Reviews
HankerRanks wide variety of products, skills, assessments and customizability has truly transformed the way we assess our engineer candidates for the better. Their attention to detail and security allows a level of faith in the product that is unmatched and so helpful in the day and age of AI.
This year we started getting an influx of AI generated candidates (fake resumes, stolen identities, utilizing AI to hide true identity). Hackerrank has been an instrumental tool in helping us safeguard our company against these frauds. The frequency of updates and releases truly helps our company stay ahead of security threats.
The platform is extremely easy to use and navigate. We utilize HackerRank in some way for every position we have and we are now looking to use it for continuing education for our current employees. Implementation and integration with our products was a breeze. And on top of all that, their customer service is unmatched! Our account manager Rachael is genuinely one of the best customer reps I have ever worked with. As a company we assessed multiple platforms for developer skills assessment and HackerRank is leaps and bounds above the rest. You will not regret using HackerRank. I genuinely have no criticisms of HackerRank. The speed in which they respond to issues and update the platform accordingly allows for a continued positive experience for their clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
HackerRank is equipped with all the features you'd need for the interview and works very reliably. That is the thing I like the most about HackerRank.
The layout, code highlighting, support for programming languages to choose from, the execution engine, everything has always worked well.
Follow mode and pair-programming works well as well and I've had fun using it. I can jump into the interviewee's code and work alongside them, which is super nice.
Mentioned before, but I'd like to highlight that the platform has everything that an interviewer would expect. A questions library, different logins for interviewers and interviewee, lobby and interviewer controls, coding tool, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The UI has a bit of a learning curve attached to it. But if you use it for a couple of times, it becomes easy to use. Specifically the consequence of an action is not clear enough is what i felt. For example, when i click on the 'Use' button on a question from the question bank, what exactly happens? does the interview start? But again, these are not prevailing issues, get addressed once you use the platform enough.
One other issue is that the UI seems a bit busy, but cannot complain about it since that is what gives the sense of the platform being powerful. If there was a way to present everything in a more "aerated" way, it would be cool, but not a dealbreaker if not. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I really like the variety of questions that are built in by default. Additionally, the organization by roles makes it easy and simple to create tests. In general, the tool is easy to use and its implementation in our organization was very easy. On the other hand, whenever we have had any kind of difficulty, we have always received timely attention through the channels that HackerRank provides for support. For me, it is a bit difficult to understand the recruiter and test developer model, I see that there are no marked differences and this incurs a cost for which I find it hard to see any kind of benefit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have been using Hackerrank for Coding and technical interview assessments and I have noticed significant improvements in the User Experience, Connectivity and many useful and essential features that really helps me to make my job much easier. It's much easier to navigate and search a problem now.
I am receiving notifications of the Candidate's activity like resizing the screen, dual monitors and given alerts if there is any suspicious activity. It also provides me connectivity strength if there are any weak signals.
From the candidate's perspective, the IDE has come a long way that suggests the suggests the methods and the libraries. Its helpful for the candidate to focus on the problem rather than remembering all the functions.
I have used other tools and Hackerrank is by far the best in terms of connectivity and speed and there is not lagging.
They have also introduced various tools to enrich the white boarding section for solving System Design problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes searching the problem are not intuitive. I have to search Recently Used section to find older problems. It doesnt appear in My Company section. I need to be able to search a problem regardless of any section. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
HackerRank provides an easy to use and easy to view snapshot of a candidate's attempt at coding questions. There are a variety of options to choose from in terms of types of questions, languages, and concepts to assess. Customer support is solid and helpful, taking into account my needs and adding them to future product considerations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I do wish there were better customization options, as sometimes the coding questions are an "all or none" in terms of grading. This can make some candidates who may possess the coding knowledge look worse than they are in terms of capability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We have been using HackerRank for already 2 years in a row for our Engineering Academy. There is so much know-how of interviewing that one can get started usung it out-of-the-box in a blink of an eye. The implementation for us was also rather simple and straightforward.
Furthermore the questions library is very extensive and is a solid base for tests. The video lesons in HackerRank Academy incl. the Learning Paths are completely sufficient to start using the platform efficiently.
In terms of integrations with Smart Recruiters, which we need, there are reasons preventing this on our side and so far we have not been able to use this features.
We have an account manager and together with the prompt support, there are not questions that had remained unanswered. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There isn't that much to dislike, but a thing that I see as a weakness is that new feature requests from customers are either not considered or realized after 10-12 or more months. Because of that, there are some steps in our process that we still need to do manually. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like how easy it is to send a large amount of technical screening to folks and assess their skills. We have integrated it into our hiring platform (Career Zone) and these features can be accessed in one place! Very simple to review, download reports and share with other team members. I would say as a non technical person I don't like that I need someone technical to vet responses. Sometimes folk score lower as a result of simple errors, it would be great in the future if there was AI generated assessments of the report so that I could interpret them myself. Hackerrank is a must have if you are looking to hire software engineers. It is a great platform that makes taking coding interviews a breeze. The functionality of creating tests and sharing with candidates for their submission enabled us to screen candidates and have prescreened and qualified canddiates ready for interviews saving lot of bandwidth for the interviews. The user interface is also quite simple, intuitive and user friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is a need to enhance the ability of the platform to detect cases where the code has been copied from AI tools and other external sources. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The HackerRank Developer Skills Platform helps us efficiently assess technical talent at scale with objective evaluations, automation, customizable tests, and data-driven insights, streamlining hiring and improving decision-making. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The HackerRank Developer Skills Platform can sometimes feel rigid, with limited real-world problem contexts, occasional false negatives in assessments, and a suboptimal candidate experience—especially for senior engineers who may prefer project-based evaluations over timed coding tests. HackerRank provides support for a majority of programming languages. I have never had a candidate who could not find their language on the list. Online syntax checkers and auto-completion are also pretty handy. I also enjoy the timeline feature of the Interview report, which could come handy if a detailed analysis of a candidate's performance is needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish HackerRank had (better) integration with services like Greenhouse and Google Meet since I saw candidates confused about which video conference feature to use — the one provided by HackerRank or the Google Meet that we normally send in the calendar invite. As for the Greenhouse integration I wish I could see the Code Interview Report being sent to Greehouse automatically. I also think UX can be improved as with the new design it is somewhat hard to find the program output tab. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
